* "Insulting": The Broken Promise Land

Chutzpah vs. Intransigent Equivocation

When it comes to American politicians and diplomats , it takes a woman (Yale Law '73) to talk turkey to the Israelis.

American men are too vote-conscious, too pusillanimous to say what is obvious: the Israelis are being obstructionists in the peace process by building new settlements on disputed land and announcing their plans as the American Vice President visits Israel.

Hillary Clinton, the Secretary of State, got right to the point: "It's insulting"
to make such an announcement when the Vice President of the United States arrives in Israel to support peace talks.

It used to be Yassir Arafat, the Palestinian leader and demi-god, who was the obstructionist to peace (and the incessant chatterbox of grievances against Israel on every television interview he could garner).

Now, it is the Israelis who are obstructionists, and specifically, Mr. Netanyahu, who apologized for the "timing" of the announcement but not for its content.

Hooray for Hillary!

Let's hear more of that kind of chutzpah from our courageous woman leader while the American male diplomats (including the President) retreat into their intransigent equivocation, hiding behind their mother's skirt (or pants suit, in this case).
