WEEP THE PEOPLE

(Too Too Red Novembers)

Our Fifty Thanksgivings
enfold
Two Kennedys
and a King,
twin towers
and a steeple.

Our Five Decades of Novembers
 unfold
stained schools,
stained books,
Kents and Sandy Hooks,
a cruelty deeper.

Our Half Century of passing time
has sold
memory
for storyteller's gold;

Trousers are now rolled
and
history
eats its old,
once
weepers.
